Frequently asked questions

How do I enter numbers?
Tap a cell to select it, then tap a number on the panel below the grid. There's no on-screen keyboard to fight with.

What do the difficulties mean?
Easy, Medium, Hard and Nasty. Easy is always solvable with simple logic alone; each step up needs progressively trickier deduction (or, at Nasty, a fair bit of it).

Are the puzzles ever repeated?
No. Every puzzle is generated fresh on your device and checked to guarantee it has exactly one solution.

What does Auto-Assist do?
When it's on, selecting a cell shows you which digits are still legal for it, based on what's already in that row, column and box.

What's Notes mode?
Turn it on and tapping a number pencils in a candidate for that cell instead of committing to it, the way you might jot possibilities on paper.

What happens if I enter a number that clashes?
The whole row, column or box lights up so the clash is obvious at a glance. Nothing is blocked or penalised — it's just a nudge, and you're free to leave it and come back to it.

What's a savepoint?
Create Savepoint remembers exactly how the grid looks right now. If you then try something and it doesn't work out, Reset To Savepoint puts it all back.

What's Letters mode?
Use Letters swaps every 1–9 on the board for A–I instead. It's logically identical — purely there for anyone who's always felt more comfortable with letters than numbers.

Can I lose?
No. There's no timer and no way to fail — leaving a puzzle half-finished just leaves it for next time, exactly as you left it.

How do I mute the sound?
Tap the speaker icon in the top corner of the screen to mute or unmute.

Does the app collect any of my data?
No. See the privacy policy for details.
